About the academy

The Ballet Academy of Central Florida was founded in 2000 by world-renowned dancer and director, Vasile Petrutiu, and "Orlando's ballerina" Heather Fryxell-Sanders.

Celebrating 20 years of excellence,  The Ballet Academy of Central Florida prides itself on offering the finest classical ballet training in Central Florida.  Our curriculum has been designed to bring out the best in every student creating a well-rounded dancer.  In addition to ballet classes, dancers will also study jazz, modern, tap, contemporary and body conditioning.  Our students have gone on to professional careers with prestigious companies including San Francisco Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Colorado Ballet, State Street Ballet, Ballet MET, Louisville Ballet, and First State Ballet Theatre. The Academy's students annually receive scholarships and acceptance to coveted dance schools including American Ballet Theatre and Canada's National Ballet School, totaling more than 30 schools and companies to date.

The Ballet Academy of Central Florida offers several performance opportunities throughout the year including our annual Nutcracker (audition required) performed in the state-of-the-art Linda Chapin Theater at the Orange County Convention Center and each school year concludes with an exciting Recital Showcase.  Our Studio Company performs year-round at various events and performances throughout Central Florida. Advanced students have an additional option to audition for the World Ballet Competition that is held in every year in June.
